Eagerly Awaiting The Storm
This project is a concept for a public installation by design studio Nåme.
Cities in Sweden have rarely been designed with heavy rainfall in mind. Due to climate change, we need to prepare our cities for more rain and at the same time save water for the dry periods.
Our proposal consist of puddles functioning as drains during torrential rain, collecting water in underground cisterns. The collected rainwater passes through filtering systems before reaching public taps, making it safe for any use.
The puddles intend to give the neighborhood’s inhabitants a closer connection to the rain and the circulation of water around them. The impact of flooding on our homes and community reveals our human vulnerability – the rain doesn't just damage our living spaces, but also irreplaceable memories. The chain, holding onto fleeting memories, echoes the power of the storm.
Eagerly Awaiting The Storm was exhibited during Southern Sweden Design Days 2025 and mentioned in Wallpaper.
